Unique Tableware, One of a Kind
Marumitsu Poterie’s tableware is made from natural clay dug from the mountains and shaped by human hands, with designs carefully considering their texture and atmosphere.
Natural clay contains a variety of substances—both inorganic materials such as metals and stones, and organic materials like plants that have transformed over countless years.
Most of the work involved in creating our tableware is done by hand.
From hand-drawn sketches and drawings, to shaping prototypes with chisels and files, creating plaster molds from those prototypes, carefully removing each piece from the mold, applying glazes, and decorating with brushes, stamps, or copper plates—every step carries the care and intention of the people involved.
During firing, various effects emerge naturally, such as iron specks, subtle variations in color, pinholes, the flow of glazes, or slight irregularities in shape. These characteristics, which cannot be perfectly uniform, are part of the charm and essence of pottery.

The textures and expressions inspired by nature, and the warmth of human imperfection—these are what we aim to embody in our tableware. While imagining these qualities, we also incorporate contemporary forms and functionality to design pieces that are both practical and evocative.
What we seek in the relationship between our tableware and those who use it is simple: a sense of attachment to each piece. We hope that our tableware accompanies people in their daily lives, enhancing the joy of mealtime. Each piece is truly unique, and we hope it will be cherished and used with care, growing in character and beauty over time.
